2017 album.

Our Overview.

British hip-hop/punk act Sleaford Mods began in 2006 as the recording project of Nottingham vocalist and musician Jason Williamson. After relocating to London for a time, he returned to Nottingham, where he met Andrew Fearn, a veteran musician who was DJ'ing at the time. The two joined forces in 2010 with Fearn taking on most of the backing tracks, freeing up Williamson to further evolve as a vocalist and lyricist. Their first recorded collaboration was on the CD-R release Wank, which appeared in 2012.

The name Sleaford Mods came from a Lincolnshire town 15 miles away from Grantham and the subculture into which Williamson had jumped when he was a pre-teen fan of the Jam. John Harris (Guardian 2014) “To describe their sound is not easy. Fearn's music is unbelievably sparse, sometimes stripped down to just bass and drums, usually clattering along as if to evoke a mind in overdrive. Williamson's words – delivered relentlessly, and in his chewy East Midlands accent – often flip between direct descriptions of life's most rage-inducing aspects…and the odd political statement, with either a large or small “p”.

Williamson explains; “A friend, Simon Parfrement, (nicknamed "Parf"), and still an integral part of Sleaford Mods' set-up) suggested combining Williamson's words with a loop lifted from a Roni Size record. "And it worked, straight away," he says. "It was better than anything I'd ever done. I took it home, and I couldn't believe how good it was. That's how Sleaford Mods was born."

Rough Trade will be releasing the new album and announced: “Limited Edition Deluxe LP comes on red vinyl with a bonus 7” of exclusive track “Big Troubles in Little Costa”, a special gigography booklet containing unseen photos by Simon Parfrement and commentary by Sleaford Mods, Sleaford Mods king size rizlas and a beermat. The LP also features a download code of the album.

The CD edition comes with king size Sleaford Mods rizlas and a beermat.

Cassette edition also includes 'Sleaford Mods Live at Dismaland 2015’ with a download code of the live show only, alongside Sleaford Mods king size rizlas and a beermat.

‘English Tapas’ will be released on March 3rd 2017. The album was recorded at Steve Mackey’s (Pulp) West Heath Garage studios in London. Jason Williamson discusses ‘English Tapas’: "Andrew walked into some random pub and saw "English Tapas" scrawled on the menu board. Underneath this beautiful coupling of words were it's components, half a scotch egg, cup of chips, pickle and a mini pork pie" It says everything about this fucking place. It's comedy, it’s make do, it's ignorant and above all, it's shit"
