Elvin Bishop first made his name playing guitar alongside Mike Bloomfield in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. When Bloomfield left in 1966, Bishop remained the sole guitar player in the band as Butterfield added horn players to the mix. Bishop left the group in 1968 and the following year issued his first solo album simply called ‘The Elvin Bishop Group’.
‘Feel It’ is his second album which came out in 1970. Realising his limitations as a vocalist he recruited soul singer Jo Baker and recorded another batch of originals and covers. One track: ‘Hogbottom’ sounds a bit like Santana and that might have something to do with the fact that two members of said band: Chepito Areas and Mike Carabello guest on the song!
