Our Overview.
With the experimental warmth of '60s French films and the pizzicato flavour of horizontal hip-hop, Simon Green's aka Bonobo project established the welcome niche of a pretension-free, post-party intellectual chill-out upon the release of his full-length debut in 2000.
Since then, his sound and scope have expanded dramatically, with his sophisticated compositions and arrangements incorporating live instrumentation and encompassing influences ranging from jazz, house, folk, and soul to African, Asian, and Middle Eastern styles of music.
Simon is set to release his first solo LP since 2013. The album is called Migration features guest appearances from Rhye, Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) and more.
The album is aptly titled; “My own personal idea of identity has played into this record and the theme of migration,” Green says, via press release. “It’s interesting how one person will take an influence from one part of the world and move with that influence and affect another part of the world. Over time, the identities of places evolve.”
