Late Review.

2017 album from band featuring Nick Beggs (Steven Wilson), Marco Minnemann (Joe Satriani) & Roger King (Steve Hackett).

Our Overview.

Mute Gods formed in 2014 by the trio of Nick Beggs (Steven Wilson, Steve Hackett), Roger King (Steve Hackett) and drummer Marco Minneman (Steven Wilson, Joe Satriani, The Aristocrats), crafting a smooth and sophisticated progressive rock sound with touches of alt pop-rock accessibility.

Nick Beggs explains “A good friend of mine, Thomas Waber at Inside Out Records, said to me “You’re doing all this work for all these great solo artists, but nothing of your own. You should be doing more.” So I decided to put a project together as a vehicle for my own songwriting. I’ve never really done that before. The first bridge to be crossed with any new project is the title. What do you call your new band? It took ages to find a suitable name for one of my earlier projects, Lifesigns, and I knew my new project would be no easier. But in the end I settled on The Mute Gods.

Marco Minnemann said of their acclaimed debut album ‘Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me’ (2016) “It was a tremendously joyful process recording for The Mute Gods album. And I sincerely want to thank Nick and Roger for letting me express myself so freely with all musical ideas I wanted to bring into the ‘Mute God’ universe. Much love… and I hope you enjoy listening to the album as much as I had the pleasure recording for it.”

Picking up from where the first album left off: with its examination of societal control mechanisms, ‘‘Tardigrades Will Inherit The Earth’ looks at the inevitable outcomes should humanity continue down dark, dogmatic pathways.

“Contrasting infectious, catchy songs with rather grim perspectives on the state of religion, politics, media, and the environment, THE MUTE GODS blend the “out of the box” thinking approach of progressive music with a timeless melodicism and addictive hooks that cannot deny a certain alternative rock edge.” Inside Out.Beggs comments: “This album asks people to take off their rose-tinted spectacles and consider the reality facing us. At this point in my career, I feel strongly that it’s important to use music as a vehicle for truth, not just feel-good entertainment.”
