Our Overview.
Austin based - heavy neo-psych/fuzzed-up badass powerhouse four piece - are releasing their debut ‘Memory Beach’ via You’ve Changed Records! And for some of you the irony will not be lost - you may have heard them referred to them as “the band formerly known as Teevee.” For Wurve, it’s been a royal pain in the butt doing the name-change thing, with certain social media outlets not cooperating with the change and making life difficult. But you can’t stop the music.
Dwelling somewhere between bright and dark, features a colourful spectrum of hard hitting feel-good rhythms punctuated by spiraling melodies, heady vocals, heavy guitar tonalities, and swells of reverb channeling Jesus and Mary Chain noise-pop sensibilities with experimental elements gleaned from Austins rich homegrown history of psychedelia.
“Reverb-laced, garage-based – WURVE's Bask checks all the boxes for big fuzz. Through heavy guitar divulging and outro oscillations, the locals' second EP maintains a sonically propelled lightness, best played out in first of four "Loretta." Alex Capistran's soft, slithery croon phases through early Oh Sees and a shoegaze-infused sprawl, topping off the buoyant capture of thick, bubbling psychedelia.” Austin Chronicle
“To hear the studio version of any WURVE song is to lose yourself in the deluge of psych rock dipped in shoegaze, but when you experience them live, their garage rock soul shines through…” Kutz
