Our Overview.

Wire’s first three albums need no introduction. They are the three classic albums on which Wire’s reputation is based. Moreover, they are the recordings that minted the post-punk form. This was adopted by other bands, but Wire were there first. These are the definitive re-releases.

'Pink Flag', their debut album was issued on EMI's "progressive" label Harvest in November 1977.  Several of the albums cuts didn't even get to the one minute mark, not that it bothered the band or record company. It seemed the group were bursting with ideas and wanted to get them all out - 21 tracks in just over 35 minutes.

Although it didn't chart, it became a huge influence on numerous acts over the years particularly American guitar acts like R.E.M., Minutemen, Henry Rollins, Minor Threat and Firehose. In the 90s, Elastica nicked the riff of "Three Girl Rhumba" for their song "Connection". In the post-EMI unpicking of the former majors catalogue, it appears the band have won back the rights and are re-issuing the three albums they did for them on their own label.
